Windows Live OneCare

Windows Live OneCare ImageWindows Live OneCare provides complete protection for your computer in one complete package, as well as optimising the performance of your PC and defending everything from your most important files to the system itself.

Windows Live OneCare offers Protection Plus, which uses antivirus and antispyware scanners. These check Internet and e-mail traffic to detect and remove suspected viruses, spyware, trojans, rootkits, worms and other malicious malware. This is combined with Window Live OneCare’s two-way firewall, and antiphishing technology. These help to check all traffic and e-mails, whether it is inbound or outbound, to prevent anything suspicious getting into your system. To keep the software up to date, Windows Live OneCare sends out frequent updates. Windows Live OneCare works with Microsoft Update to ensure that the updating is compatible with the existing protection on your computer.

Scans are run continuously and in the background, so that no matter what you are doing the activity is being checked for potential cyber threats. If you think that a particular file is suspicious, or want to check that it is safe to download, Windows Live OneCare provides a scanning on-demand. This means you can check a file before downloading it to ensure it isn’t going to install viruses onto your PC.

Windows Live OneCare also keeps your private and personal information safe. Windows Live OneCare regularly backs up your most important files to an external hard drive to ensure it is safe. Other features geared towards the smooth running of your computer include Window Live OneCare’s Performance Plus. This regularly defrags your computer to maintain a smooth and quick running of your system.

Windows Live OneCare has a quick and easy system to keep you up to date with the safety of your computer. A green icon in your toolbar assures you that your computer is secure; an orange icon means that your computer is safe but needs to run a scan or tune-up to change it to green status; and a red icon warns of a potential lack of security, for example if Windows Live OneCare has not been updated recently or the software has been turned off.
