McAfee Expands Empire
Computer security giant McAfee has expanded its empire with the purchase of Solidcore Systems for just over $30 million.
Californian based McAfee is the world’s largest dedicated security technology company.
It saw in Solidcore, a privately owned operation also based in California, a company that offers anti-virus software technology, protecting against malicious programmes, but also one that helps a user confirm that only software that has been authorised can run on servers, be loaded onto mobile devices and other hi-tech gadgets.
The price paid by MacAfee is thought be around $30 million, with a further $14 million payable depending on future corporate performance.
McAfee made clear that is saw the acquisition as an ideal opportunity to not only gain entry into new markets, but also to continue its dominance in the endpoint security market, worth in the region of $6 billion.
